In a previous post I gave you 15 personal development books that everyone should read. Well today I thought I would share some more books to add to your bookshelf… which may now be more like a library 🙂
I thought I would outline some books that all entrepreneurs and business owners should read. They are not just business specific, but cover business strategy, productivity, leadership, sales and finance.
There are so many more books in each of these categories but I thought I would share the books to get you started. Enjoy!
As a business owner you will know all too well the feeling of wearing too many hats. You try and deliver the product or service, do the sales, the marketing, the finances, the customer service, the cleaning and everything else that needs to get done.
With the E-Myth, Michael Gerber shows you how to create a business that can work without you. He shows you how to work yourself out of your business.
This is one of the most important business books and everyone should read it. Hence why its up here at number 1.

There are 3 ways to grow your business, get more customers, get those customers paying more when they visit and getting those customers to come back more. Most companies only focus on getting more customers, yet the real growth happens when you bring all 3 together. Jay Abraham takes you through this process and so much more in this fantastic book.
Although a lot has changed since Tim Ferriss released this book, however the principles are still the same. This is all about creating a business & a life that you love!
Tim shows you how you could live and work anywhere. Its about how to truly use your time and money wisely to actually grow a business. It’s about being incredibly productive. It’s about learning how to leverage time, people and money to create the best outcomes.
This is a fantastic book and one all business owners and entrepreneurs should read.
Businesses are built on relationships. Success is built on relationships. You might have heard the phrase, “it’s not what you know, it’s who you know”. Some people even use it as an excuse for why they didn’t get a job or why someone else was successful. Well if that’s the case shouldn’t we be setting aside time to network and get to know the people in our industry. Don’t you want to have a network of people that lift you up? Keith Ferrazzi dives into the world of building true relationships, based on generosity. He takes us through the strategies we need
This should be essential reading for everyone, in fact it should be taught in schools in my opinion. Rich Dad Poor Dad is a dive into personal finance and the mindset behind becoming wealthy.
You see the biggest difference between the really rich and the poor is their mindset around money. If you want to become wealthy then you may have to switch your mindset.
Once you have read this, I highly recommend you grab his other books, especially, The Cashflow Quadrant as it dives into more detail and strategy.
One of the key skills any person can have is the ability to sell. If you are a business owner then you need to be able to sell, especially if its just you in the business. If you can’t sell then you won’t have a business for long.
It’s time to stop picturing the “used car salesman” view of selling. Understand that if your product truly benefits people its your duty to sell it to them.
But even if you’re not directly in “sales”, you should have the skill of selling. Why? Because you are selling all day everyday. When you want your boss to buy in on your idea… you are selling them that idea. When you really want to go to a certain restaurant with your friends, you are selling the idea that your restaurant is going to be better than their idea. Even getting your kids to tidy up their room, you have to sell them on the idea!
Selling skills come in handy in all different areas of your life. It’s time to master them!
This a great book, and very simply breaks down the various selling skills. Easy read, great stories too!
As I said above, selling is just such a key skill for you to have. And this audio book from Zig Ziglar is absolutely brilliant. He is a fantastic story teller, its entertaining, amusing and there are sooo many lessons its crazy.
If you haven’t got Audible yet, I believe you can get a free book when you sign up for the trial.
A fantastic leadership fable about a new CEO who comes to a company with a team that is in such disarray that it threatens to bring down the company. How will she unite the company?
Within this story Patrick Lencioni shows us a powerful model and actionable steps that can be used to overcome hurdles and build a truly effective team.
A MUST read for anyone building a team of any size!
There are several others that he has written too, I for one am going to grab them all 🙂

How do you handle extreme pressure?

Whether you want to become the leader in your field/industry or a better leader within your company then grab this book. John Maxwell outlines the 5 levels of leadership. In this book he shows you how to progress through each level and become more successful, more respected, and better leaders.
Now we move into the world of productivity. Business owners often wish there were more hours in the day. But actually getting more done in less time is also an attractive approach right? Getting Things Done is a manual in how stay stress free and super productive even when your workload can seem overwhelming. David Allen shows you how to keep a clear head and organise your thoughts.
What are you doing that could be delegated? What are you doing that could be dropped entirely? How should you be handling emails? And so much more
