So you are looking for that extra something, that edge to help take you to the next level, but what is it? Could it be that your health, your fitness level, and the amount that you exercise could influence your level of success? Your health influences your success level?
Chances are if you are already striving up the career or business path, you are implementing a lot of the “work” things you need to be doing, but sooooo many people just dismiss the idea of being fit and healthy.
When actually, fit and healthy people are proven to earn more!
Why is that though? How can fit and healthy people earn more? They are not necessarily any smarter, they don’t necessarily have the same level as training, and yet they still progress quicker… why?
Let me tell you…..
When you are fit and healthy…….
1. You’ll be able to focus better and for longer
Exercising for even just half an hour a day will increases your heart rate and dilate your blood vessels, helping more blood get around your body and crucially to your brain. How often do you find yourself sat at your desk being “busy” but not really doing anything, not being focused on the task at hand?
2. Better Decision Making
Again with the better flow of oxygen round the brain, it simply works better. The mind is able to process things quicker. If you made better decisions every day do you think that would help? Of course it would!
3. More Influence
Your physiological state, directly influences your psychological state. If you look and feel good, you will instantly have more confidence and that immediately comes across to those around you. Your mood improves and people will be more attracted to you and more likely to listen to what you are saying.
Exercising and using your muscles also helps you burn off nervous energy and will make you feel more physically relaxed, and confident.
4. Build Better Relationships
Working out causes the body to produce serotonin, a natural anti-depressant (this is where the “runners’ high” comes from).
People often blame others for not being nice, or not listening etc, my first response is always, “and what are you like to be around?”. So often your mood, your behaviour is mirrored straight back at you. Don’t like how you are being treated, or how people behave around you, check yourself first (this is a topic for another day). If you are in a better mood, more focused on those around you, more present in the moment, you will be build better and stronger relationships with those around you.
5. More Productive
It has been shown that those who exercise, get more done in less time. They are way more productive than their non exercising counterparts. Remember, physiology affects psychology. Improve your physiology and your psychology improves too. Driving blood around the body, getting the mind active and more prepared for work, will rapidly lead to you being more productive.
6. Better able to deal with the rubbish
When you exercise your stress levels decrease. When you are less stressed the crap that comes your way, that would usually seem like a mountain, now appears as a molehill, and you are simply better able to deal with it.
7. It gives you structure to your day
A lot of the time people get to the end of the day, and they say “I have been busy, but I just don’t know what I have really done”. When a busy business owner schedules in an hour of exercise into their day, suddenly the rest of their time becomes more productive and they tend to plan their day better. They know exactly what they are doing and when. Also, by scheduling in exercise into your diary, people get better at scheduling other important parts to their day.
8. Ready to attack each and every day
Healthy people sleep better, which means they recover more during their sleep. If you recover well during your sleep, you will wake up and be ready to attack each and every day.
If you added all those things together, do you think you would be a better version of you, and more likely to be successful? Yes or yes?
Good! Of course you would!
So make a commitment right now and schedule in your exercise sessions.
Just keep it simple, go for a walk or a jog, do a body weight circuit. If you want to join the gym then do that. But make it easy to do. The more barriers that get in the way the less likely you are to actually do it.
Stop saying that you don’t have the time, start prioritising your health and go smash your goals this year.
